Costa Rica's car rental fleet is well represented with both international and domestic car rental companies. Several car rental companies have offices and the major international airport (Juan Santamaría), in addition to the airport in Guanacaste (Daniel Oduber). As well, most larger hotels have travel desks to assist you with your car rental needs. If desired, you can visit a local office directly to finalize your travel plans.
Each company has different regulations concerning deposit fees, insurance, drivers license, etc. We suggest that you contact them with any questions you may have. It is common for most car rental companies to charge a deposit fee, which is cancelled when the vehicle is returned. This fee varies depending on the vehicle and time of rental. Your rental normally includes an insurance deductible of $750.00 U.S. dollars, however, some companies allow you to waive that fee if you elect to pay a higher daily rate. Consult with your car rental agency. Also, be sure to review the vehicle before departing, as any damage not previously recognized will be added to your bill.
